Mulching & Soil Health in the Northern Rivers

Quality mulch to lock in moisture, feed the soil and keep weeds down through the dry months.

Mulch is the cheapest, most effective thing you can do for a Northern Rivers garden. A good layer holds moisture in the soil through our dry spells, smothers weeds before they start, protects roots from heat, and breaks down to feed the garden over time. Tucki Gardens supplies and spreads quality mulch so your beds look sharp and your plants do the hard work less often.

We'll recommend the right mulch for the job — a fine, dark mulch for a tidy ornamental bed, a coarser woodchip for natives and around trees — top up tired beds, and refresh the whole garden so it reads as one clean, finished space. Healthy soil means less watering, fewer weeds and stronger plants, season after season.

Mulching & Soil Health — FAQs

Still wondering about something? Send us a message and we'll happily help.

How often should I re-mulch?

In our climate most beds want a top-up once or twice a year as the mulch breaks down. We can fold it into a regular maintenance schedule so it never gets away from you.

What type of mulch is best?

It depends on the bed. Fine, composted mulches suit ornamental and veggie beds; coarser woodchip is great around natives and trees. We'll recommend what's right and supply it.

Does mulch really reduce watering?

Yes — a good layer of mulch dramatically slows evaporation, so soil stays moist for longer and your plants cope far better through dry spells.

Can you weed the beds before mulching?

We always prep beds first — weeding and tidying — so the mulch goes onto a clean bed and does its job properly.
