Hedge Trimming & Pruning in the Northern Rivers
Sharp, healthy hedges and well-shaped shrubs — seasonal pruning that keeps growth dense, tidy and full.
A crisp hedge is what separates a tidy garden from a great one — and in our growing conditions, hedges and screening plants need regular attention to stay that way. Lilly pilly, murraya, viburnum and photinia all romp away in the Northern Rivers, and left too long they turn leggy, gappy and woody. Tucki Gardens keeps them tight, green and full with properly timed trimming.
Pruning is as much about plant health as looks. We shape hedges so light reaches the lower growth (the secret to a hedge that stays dense to the ground), thin out crowded shrubs to improve airflow, and prune flowering plants at the right time so you don't cut off next season's display. Every trim finishes with a full clean-up and green-waste removal.

Hedge Trimming & Pruning — FAQs
Still wondering about something? Send us a message and we'll happily help.
When is the best time to trim hedges here?
Most Northern Rivers hedges benefit from a tidy-up two or three times a year, with the main trims in the growing season. Flowering hedges are best done just after they flower so you don't lose the next display — we'll time it right for what you've got.
Can you rescue an overgrown or neglected hedge?
Usually, yes. Many hedges that have gone leggy or gappy can be brought back over one or two seasons with staged pruning. We'll give you an honest assessment on site and a plan to get it dense again.
How tall a hedge can you handle?
We're set up to safely trim tall screening hedges and feature plantings. If a hedge needs more than ladder work, we'll let you know and sort the safest approach.
Do you clean up the clippings?
Always. Raking up and removing all the clippings and green waste is part of every hedging job.
